Geoharbour's Subsidiary Fuxi Energy: Leveraging Multiple On-Board Tests to Propel Perovskite Solar Cells into Space

Time:2025-03-17

Fuxi Energy, a subsidiary of Geoharbour, has specialized in the research, design, and manufacturing of satellite energy systems and their individual components since its establishment. Fuxi Energy has always taken technological innovation as the core engine driving its development, committing to reshaping the industry's future through breakthrough thinking and cutting-edge technology.

At 12:03 PM on November 11, 2024, the Lijian-1 Y5 Launch Vehicle ignited and lifted off from the Dongfeng Commercial Space Innovation Test Zone, successfully placing the Tianyan-24 Satellites into their intended orbits. These satellites carried Fuxi Energys perovskite solar cell products. Through in-orbit operation, professional equipment and technology are used to precisely monitor the electrical performance of the cells, providing critical data for related technical research and applications. As of now, the perovskite solar cells on the Tianyan-24 Satellites have operated stably in orbit for over three months, with stable output voltage and normal performance parameters across all indicators.

On February 26, 2025, data collection was conducted on the output voltage of perovskite solar cells. Compared with the early stage of orbit insertion (November 12, 2024), under the same condition of the angle between the normal line and the solar vector (approximately 52° to 57°), the output voltages of the perovskite solar cells in both instances were relatively consistent, ranging from approximately 2.8V to 3.0V. The output voltage of the perovskite solar cells remained relatively stable with almost no decrease.

Perovskite is recognized as a new-generation photovoltaic material, offering higher efficiency, lower costs, and broader application scenarios. Fuxi Energy has been exploring its applications in aerospace. The Tianyan-24 Satellites were not the company's first to carry perovskite products for in-orbit testing and development.

On December 16, 2023, shortly after its establishment, Fuxi Energy conducted its first in-orbit test of products by carrying them on the AISI Upper Stage Y13;

On May 31, 2024, the Fudan Information Satellite, equipped with perovskite solar cell products developed by the company, entered orbit;

On August 29, 2024, the SuStar-1 Satellite, also carrying the companys perovskite solar cell products, successfully entered orbit.

Through multiple tests, Fuxi Energy has continuously improved the development technologies and processes for perovskite solar cell products. These tests not only demonstrated the excellent performance of perovskite cells in extreme space environments but also laid a solid foundation for their widespread application in future aerospace missions. Fuxi Energy will continue to commit to the research, development, and optimization of perovskite cell technology, promoting its commercialization in the aerospace field and providing more efficient and reliable energy solutions for the space industry.
